melt

Tahmina Maula

melt

(after the Kyaiktio Pagoda, The Golden Rock, Myanmar)

twilight falls against an august sky

first stars blink

last light stirs

the air chimes

with the blue sigh of night

the many are joined

by a golden thread

a single strand

a fine hair's breadth

on wind-song we become one

then melt

into the other

become breath
